Yes, this is right, but what is wrong is parents wanting this but doing nothing about it. What is wrong is parents sending their children off to school each morning without a care for what happens whilst there. What is wrong is parents demanding school progress from their children, but doing nothing themselves to guide it.

If you want to do right then you should be guiding your children to school success rather than just leaving them to their own devices in regards to it. If you want advice on how to do such guiding, then make sure to read on.

Try to showcase the fun in learning

When learning is a bore, learning is a chore. And, when learning is a chore, it is hard to do. For this reason, the first thing that you should be doing in your attempt at guiding your children to school success is to make learning as fun as it can be for them. To do this, first of all you’re going to have to work out what constitutes as fun for your children. You’re then going to have to try and translate this essence of fun as best as you can into their learning patterns. For instance, if your child enjoys competition, then inducing a feel of gamification, the act of competing with others for sport, could be a good thing for you to do. You could challenge them to a homework challenge, the first one to finish and get all of their answers correct being the winner.

Don’t be prejudice when it comes to passion

Yes, you want your children to be good overall in their school career, but that doesn’t mean that you should stop them in their tracks if they shows signs of having a particular proclivity or passion for a certain subject. And you certainly shouldn’t be prejudice towards this subject in any way, despite your own feelings on it, because that will only damper theirs. Instead, what you should do is push your children further with the subject they show an interest in, as it may end up being the thing that helps them fulfil their potential later in life.

Make sure they attend school trips

School trips, especially residential school trips, are a quintessential part of school life. We always strive to send our girls on residential trips on offer as it gives them so much more than classroom learning. And, by going on them, your children will reap all the educational and life benefits of doing so, so make sure they do! If your children show any sort of doubt towards attending a trip, which would only be natural considering they often take people out of zones they are comfortable in, make sure you infuse to them about all the good things about trips. By doing so, they might just learn something about themselves that they never knew before, and that’s the best lesson of all.

Guiding your children to school success is your duty as a parent, so make sure you are doing it!

And, whilst you’re at it, make sure you’re doing all you can to push your children towards attending their school discos, too, as the social benefits of doing so will be massive for them.
