Panto Is Over For Another Year

I am exhausted. That could be the amount of running I been doing, but it’s most likely all the running around we’ve all been doing. The girls are tired and Helen is too. It’s the end of the pantomime run for 2019. Three of our girls in the dance teams and we couldn’t be prouder.

Tonight we’ll see the show for the 3rd time. This time Delilah and Verity will be in the audience to cheer on the other junior team they have alternated performances with all week. As it’s the last night I’m hoping for a few more close-to-the-bone gags from the dame and bit of extra frivolity too.

My overriding feeling about this week is pride. I’m proud to have daughters who can get up there and perform to an audience. It takes courage and confidence. It’s something I didn’t have at their age and looking back I regret I didn’t try. It’s taken me over 25 years but I finally did it myself and my journey starts with The Sound of Music when rehearsals start next week.

I am writing this quickly as I am about to leave to meet the dancer for a meal between today’s shows. They have a real team spirit and support one and other and it’s great to see.

Of course, there’s no rest for a performer. Delilah and Lydia start rehearsals with me for the Sound of Music and there are dance festivals coming up to. It’s none stop sometimes, it really is.

I’m going to go brush up on my boos and hisses for the witch now…

Thanks for reading.

Dave
