September 2018 is a month we have been looking forward to for a long time now. The reason? We went on holiday to Kos. So, naturally, this months selection of photos is heavily influenced by our week on that beautiful island in the Dodecanese and the Aegean Sea.
Our two hounds
September started where August left off – with warm weather. I was out walking these two beauties on the 1st of September and captured this wonderful shot of them both.
Birthday number 1
Delilah celebrated her 10th birthday, leaving us with only one daughter in single figures now. This is the portrait I made for her birthday and says everything about this sassy girl.
Back to school
As is tradition, I made a back to school portrait of all our girls (badges blurred, obviously).
A portrait with our girl
Whilst out walking the dogs one evening, I made this portrait of Delilah and I using our new Canon EOS M50 and the remote control app on my phone.
Date night
The Saturday before we flew to Kos saw Helen take me to see Ant Middleton at Scarborough Spa. It’s always nice to get out as just a couple. We ate fish butties on the seafront and enjoyed Ant’s talk.
Wing tip
It had been 14 years since I was on an aeroplane. I’d forgotten just how great the views are from 30,000 feet! This shot was taken somewhere over the North Sea.
Beach bums
I captured so many shots of the girls in Kos that it would take too long to share them all. Here’s the one we used to send my Mum a postcard using Touch Note on my phone. I shot the photo using our Canon EOS M50 whilst we walk from our apartments into Tigaki. When we had sat down for lunch I downloaded the photo to my phone using the WiFi link, edited it using Lightroom CC and uploaded it to technote. A quite note to my mum and I clicked send. She received it a couple of days later in the mail.
The Wedding of the Year
The reason we, and the rest of our family, were in Kos was for Rachael and Danny’s wedding. As her uncle, I’d agreed to photograph the event as our gift to them. Here’s the photo I shared with them on the day for them to upload to social media. Again, shot on the M50 (during the Golden Hour) and as above edited in Lightroom CC.
Congratulations guys, it was a beautiful wedding.
The Spice Seller of Psérimos
I wanted to capture some “proper” travel photography shots during our holiday. When our tourist boat landed on Psérimos island I captured this shot of an islander selling spices to the hoards of passing tourists.
Snorkelling fun
The crystal clear water of the Aegean Sea on Psérimos island is ideal for snorkelling. Using our GoPro HERO4 I was able to capture many amazing underwater shots of the girls trying out this fantastic way of seeing the world and waters.
Leap of faith
We allow our girls to try things and be daring. That’s why I took Delilah, and her cousins George and Ewan, around to pier on Psérimos for some jumping in action. Ewan dived (who off), George jumped and Delilah followed. I had intended to dive in myself but we ran out of time as our boat was preparing to leave.
Dolphin watching
The boat trip we took passed close to a fish farm near Psérimos, Kalymnos and Plati islands. This farm attracts pods of dolphins and we were lucky to spot two pods. I was even luckier to be able to capture a shot of this small pod breaching the water.
Poseidon on Plati
Our boat stopped close to Plati island so we could all jump into the beautiful waters of the Aegean Sea and cool off. This photo was also My Sunday Photo on 30th September 2018.
Sun lovers
Under the hot sun of the Dodecanese island chain it was hard not to capture beautiful photos of the girls. Here’s Delilah and Verity as we sailed back into Kos harbour.
Pool family portrait
Thanks to my nephew, Ewan, for capturing this shot with our GoPro. We love it and it encapsulates the smiles we wore all week on our holiday.
Birthday girl number two
Back from holiday and into a birthday for Lydia. This means we’ve been parents for 15 years already. Doesn’t seem like 2 minutes since I was holding her tiny body in my arms looking out at the moonlit sky from the delivery room.
As you can see, she was pretty happy with the Vans!
Ancient ash in autumn light
Walking the dogs with Verity on Saturday morning, as we do when dance classes are on, I capture this shot of our towns oldest tree – known as the Ancient Ash. A nice photo to end September with.
Thanks for checking out my month in photos for September 2018.
Dave
What absolutely stunning photos – I love the back to school one. That’s certainly one for the memory vault (and if you’re anything like my parents to bring out on the 21st birthday or wedding day!) Thanks for sharing with #TriumphantTales, do come back next week!
Thank you very much! Yes, we do one like that each year 🙂
Oh wow you took some amazing photos that captured the whole of September. Great memories #triumphanttales
Thank you
