Don’t call this a trumpet, because it’s not. It’s a cornet, and Verity and Delilah have just taken them up at school.
I think about the line from Brassed Off whenever I mistakenly call it a trumpet and I’m corrected: it’s a bloody euphonium!”. I only recently realised that trumpets are used in brass bands, they prefer the cornet.
Anyway, as if our girls’ schedules weren’t full enough with school, dance, panto, dance festivals, and the upcoming The Sound Of Music next spring, they’ve added brass to the mix.
Their primary school has a brass band. It’s led by the teaching assistant that also happens to be the town band’s leader too. If they take to it they’ll be able to join the town junior band. If that happens our calendar might just pop!
Do your kids fill their free time with all these activities?
